It's been quite a while since I wrote an article—I think it's probably been a little over a year!
So, in an effort to restart my blogging journey, I would like to start off by jumping into the deep end. I want to do this in a very "series-like" fashion and write several blogs on related topics.
Frankly, I noticed that my skills as a programmer have been on the decline lately. There are several things to blame, but rather than focusing on that... I would like to get back on track by learning several other programming languages the old-fashioned way: by reading books!
During one of many sleepless nights, I took to browsing the web around 3 a.m. and was slapped with an ad from "Humble Bundle." Apparently, these guys like to collect funds for different charities, and their method is to sell bundles of books—many of which are actually technology and programming books!
I found one bundle that focuses on Functional Programming (FP) and features a list of languages that I have yet to use. For only 18 dollars, I got myself 10 of them! So, my initial focus is going to be picking one of these books and attempting to build a somewhat useful application. We'll see how far it goes.
I just chose my first language to tackle, and it's Clojure! Stay tuned to see what I'll build with it and my opinions on the language!
